Effort Equals Reward

The Aggravation....................

Today I was on Facebook and I read a status posted by someone I used to go to school with. The post said "Raise Minimum Wage to $15, Petition will be signed by ME!" This was posted multiple times, might I add by fellow friends and schoolmates.

As I saw this, something started to boil up inside me! Yes, I consider myself a Republican, more in the route of a Libertarian. But, when I read this it brought up a lot of problems I feel are wrong with our economy, our nation and our world.

The problem is this; too many people in this world, especially the younger generation, want everything handed to them. They want everything for free or something for nothing. They do not want to put in the effort or work that is due to necessarily provide for their future. Go and ask the students that have worked part or full time whilst in college earning a degree, and trust me they will tell you it is exhausting, hard and self sacrificing to their families, friends and social lives. Would they regret it or change something if they could? Most likely not! Go ahead and add running a household to that and a small child and add on 70% more of self sacrificing and hard work! Nothing in life that is worth it is easy. Is your marriage easy all the time? Probably not, but well worth the commitment, hard work and any sacrifices you may have to make. Are you always happy with the things your children do? Do you sometimes need a break from being in the house with kids? Sure, occasionally we all do. But each and every minute, second, and hour, bad, good, or happy is worth more than anything in the world. Nothing good comes without hard work. Including the hours of labor you went through to get them here. Would you do it again? ABSOLUTELY!

The problem with the $15 dollar minimum wage. Well, for starters, you expect people that work at their local fast food restaurant, first job and in high school to be starting off making this kind of money? Where do you think this money is coming from exactly? I wanted to ask this person that very question. It has to come from somewhere, right? Not only would the food prices that the establishment sold go up but, the economy as a whole would have to maintain the spending of this kind of money.

Instead, people complain about making enough money all the time. Sure, wouldn't we all want to make more money? Yes! Of course! We would be happier as a whole, and continue to help provide better for our families. Yet, we have to get motivated to inspire our children to go to college, work hard and earn their own life accomplishments for themselves. Effort equals reward. That is what I want my daughter growing up to believe in. Because, we all know that when we have worked hard to earn it, whatever it may be, we are much happier with the results. I am always happy and proud when I see things like people graduating from college, getting promoted at work, and seeing a child reach their milestones. All these things came from effort and without it, we are nothing from what this country was founded on.

I hope people realize that each day they need to motivate their children, family and friends. If we are always negative to those around us, then we are not motivating or inspiring anyone. Motivate and inspire to dig deeper in reading your bible, your commitment to God, your commitment to your spouse and your children. Each day motivate your children to do something worth while. It starts at an early age. If we motivate our children when they are young, they will be motivated as adults. Lets start tomorrow by making our own efforts obtain our own rewards!
